Hand vein recognition - contactless & safe identification
Functionality
Hand vein recognition is a biometric identification feature of electronic access control for maximum security. Palm vein recognition identifies people clearly and forgery-proof, while at the same time offering a high level of user convenience.
Special solutions & complete service
As an independent service provider with strong consulting capabilities, we support you with a broad portfolio of individual services, carefully selected hand vein detection products and proven solution partners.
- all competently from a single source.
Palm vein recognition is a biometric identification feature of electronic access control for maximum security. It consists of a biometric reader, the palm vein scanner, and a controller. The palm vein recognition system identifies people clearly and forgery-proof, while at the same time offering a high level of user convenience and an attractive design. People are recognized contactlessly based on the course of the hand veins. Hand vein recognition can also be used for time recording and attendance control.
Place hand in front of sensor
To identify a person, they must place their palm flat in front of the hand vein scanner sensor without touching it. The Fujitsu™ sensor emits near-infrared radiation in the direction of the hand, which is absorbed by the venous blood. The radiation is neither harmful to health nor noticeable to the user.
Template is created
The deoxygenated blood in the vein absorbs the infrared light, which generates an image of the hand in the hand vein scanner. The software converts this image into a schematic template, which in turn is stored in a database or on an RFID badge.
Identify or verify
Hand vein recognition can be used for both identification and verification. During identification, the vein pattern is scanned and a matching template is searched for in the database. During verification, a template is scanned from an RFID badge and compared with the user's hand. In this case, the data is in the user's possession instead of in a database.
Comparison of hand vein recognition with other biometric technologies
Hand vein recognition can be used for both access control and time and attendance recording. The range of applications extends from a palm vein scanner at the entrance to a residential building to securing high-security areas and fully biometric attendance and time recording in companies, public authorities and educational institutions.
Hand vein recognition as a stand-alone device
The palm vein recognition system is suitable for use as a stand-alone device. The templates are either saved locally on the controller or stored on the user's ID card.
Use as a stand-alone device offers you a number of advantages:
- You do not need a server
- The system is quick and easy to install
- Users can be taught in directly at the door
Hand vein recognition is always used as a stand-alone device when there is a high need for protection, but only a few doors need to be protected. The typical areas of application are
- Private households
- Small companies
- Individual areas in companies, for example the server room
The prices for stand-alone manual vein detection depend primarily on the exact area of application and the desired housing. For this reason, a telephone consultation is highly recommended before purchasing. Simply describe your requirements to us and you will shortly receive your personal cost estimate.
Palm vein recognition integrated into INCA® access control
Palm vein recognition develops its full potential when it is integrated into an electronic access control system, such as the INCA® IDICS access control software from ibes AG. This turns the palm vein scanner into a component of a complex system. This gives you the following advantages:
- Authorizations can be assigned centrally, even to multiple devices
- Access can be read centrally
- Combination with other identification features is possible, for example RFID badge and PIN
The many possibilities of electronic access control with integrated hand vein recognition result in the following areas of application, for example:
- For large companies with different security areas
- For high-security areas with multiple access points
- For properties with several high-security areas
Hand vein recognition can also be used for time recording. The hand vein scanners are connected to the time recording system, for example to the INCA® IDICS time recording software. People identify themselves at the IZ 940 time recording terminal using hand vein recognition and then make their clock-in, clock-out and off-site bookings or view their working time balances. As a user, you enjoy the following benefits:
- You ensure that each employee books their own times
- Combination with other identification features is possible, but not absolutely necessary
- You have an overview of your employees' attendance
- You can process the recorded times automatically and have them transferred to payroll accounting
Typical areas of application for time recording with hand vein recognition are, for example, companies that do not want to use RFID badges and other media. Time recording with hand vein recognition can also be the right solution for areas in which forgery-proof attendance recording is particularly important.
At the heart of our systems is always our comprehensive, modular access control and time recording software, to which we connect only the most modern hardware components. As a great deal of know-how and experience is required to manufacture our hardware, we produce a large part of the technology ourselves. Our in-house developments include, for example, our terminals, controllers and tracking devices, including the portal. We source the remaining components from leading manufacturers with whom we have long-standing partnerships.
Our customers include many medium-sized companies and educational institutions, as well as corporations such as Audi AG and Verbundnetz Gas AG.
We would be delighted to welcome your company among our customers in the future.
